PRESS RELEASE
OTTAWA, June 2 2021 – French for the Future (Le français pour l'avenir) is happy to announce today that 25 teenagers from all across Canada have been selected to participate in its 2021 National Ambassador Youth Forum (Forum national des jeunes ambassadeurs 2021). The FNJA 2021 is a week of training and entertainment which will take place online August 6 to 12 entirely in French.
During the FNJA 2021, participants will be able to build friendships by taking part in collaborative project management and leadership workshops. They will also attend memorable cultural activities. Trained and motivated, they will become French for the Future ambassadors in their school and their communities for the following schoolyear.
FNJA 2021 participants will live a week like no other. Fatima, one of our young ambassadors for 2020 had this to say about her journey: "My ambassador experience was incredible. At the FNJA, I met lots of super people from all across Canada. Thansk to the Forum, I learned how to be a good leader at school and in my community. It also helped me to understand the importance of bilingualism and the value of francophone cultures. Moreover, I gained language skills and confidence by speaking only in French for seven days. Even though the Forum was virtual, it was memorable."
As an ambassador, Fatima launched an Instagram profile to help her peers with learning French. Others, like Bryanna and Vivian, founded reading clubs and organised speach contests in their schools. These are a few examples of the projects led by the French for the Future ambassador team, which help to promote French language learning all across Canada.
"Each year, the Forum national des jeunes ambassadeurs is an unforgettable experience for participating students. With this year being our second virtual edition, we have the opportunity to create a pancanadian digital community that brings together kids who are passionate about bilingualism and partners from the francophonie. Our ambassadors will be able to learn and grow in French before leaving the 2021 FNJA with newfound friends, as well as sharpened project management and leadership skills," explains Geneviève Gobeil, Program Coordinator at French for the Future.
