Moncton local forum 2025

DETAILS OF THE EVENT

The Moncton Forum is almost here!
Moncton’s eighteenth French for the Future local forum will take place at the Université de Moncton campus on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
French for the Future is an event full of activities, including an opening keynote, 15 workshops, and a closing show featuring Petipé, a local artist.
Who’s invited? Students from French immersion programs in grades 9 to 12 from eight English-language high schools in the Greater Moncton area. These students will have the opportunity to meet people who are passionate about French and who use it regularly in their professional and personal lives. Some of the themes covered will include health, science, video games, the arts, criminology, engineering, French studies, and much more!

Petipé
Petipé is a singer-songwriter from the picturesque Chaleur region of northern New Brunswick. Proud of his roots, he wants to introduce the Acadian music scene to the world's Francophone community, and more specifically, his sentimental lyrics.
After releasing his first album, petit oiseau, in 2024, Acadian artist Petipé takes to the stage with his band: les camisoles, seven musicians who will rock the neighborhood. Together, they deliver a pop show tinged with jazz, hip-hop, and rock, where Petipé's original lyrics will resonate in the audience's minds for weeks following the show.

Hughie Batherson
An award-winning speaker and comedian, Hughie has been a motivational speaker for 20 years, addressing bilingualism in his presentations. A former teacher with a master's degree in education, his research focuses on humour in the classroom. He has received numerous awards, including the Prix Camille-Antoine Richard and the Prix du Lieutenant-Gouverneur in 2022 for his contribution to the French-speaking world. Originally from Cape Breton, he learned French at the age of 19 and draws inspiration from his experiences as an anglophone in a francophone environment. Whether making audiences laugh or inspiring them to reflect on their own lives, Hughie continues to leave a lasting impact through his unique blend of humor and heartfelt storytelling.
