The St.John's Forum is almost here!

The St. John’s Local Forum of French for the Future will be held on December 18, 2025, at Memorial University, St. John’s Campus (NL).

We expect over 300 students from grades 9 to 12, coming from a variety of Anglophone and Francophone schools in the region. Throughout this day dedicated entirely to the French language, participants will take part in interactive, educational, and fun workshops.

It’s a unique opportunity for students to build connections across linguistic communities, while discovering the richness of Francophone and Acadian culture.

Hughie Batherson

A comedian originating from Cape Breton, Hughie is an Anglophone who thrives in the Acadian Francophone scene. Winner of the Just for Laughs competition in Acadia, he has since participated in tours and festivals in the Atlantic and Ontario. He has opened for several big names in Quebec and Acadian comedy.

Port-Aux-Poutines

Port-Aux-Poutines is a Francophone traditional music duo based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, formed in 2022 by Jenna Maloney and Axel Belgarde. Their music blends French-Canadian and Newfoundland traditions in a mix of original songs, folk pieces, and translations of songs from the province. Three-time recipients of the MusicNL Award for Francophone Artist of the Year, the group celebrates the diversity of French-Canadian culture and tells stories from the province, highlighting the Francophone heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada.
