CATHERINE MCDONALD

Born in Rimouski, Catherine McDonald studied political science at Laval University. After completing her studies, she moved to western Canada to work as a French language instructor in Alberta. Upon returning to the east, she first settled in Ottawa, where she worked for the Forum for Young Canadians, which aims to develop young Canadian leaders in the world of federal politics. She then moved to Toronto to work for CIVIX-Canada, an organization that aims to strengthen democracy through civic education. More specifically, she was responsible for developing the Quebec and Francophone market. After a few years in Toronto, she opened the organization's Quebec division with offices in Montreal.

She now works in eastern Quebec as Executive Director of the Roméo Dallaire Foundation, which aims to develop leadership skills in young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

She currently sits on various boards of directors, including CIVIX-Canada and her local school service center. Her main areas of interest are citizen and voter participation, youth, and the Francophonie.
